The seeds of the rudraksha tree are considered the tears of Rudra-Shiva.  The wearing of rudraksha is believed to purify our body and mind, awaken kundalini, destroy sin, develop devotion, and is ideal for chanting mantras to Lord Shiva and the Divine Mother.  The smaller the beads, the more rare and expensive.
